Find Support

It is hard enough trying to change your eating habits and trying to exercise regularly and oh by the way your everyday life is stuck in there too. Sometimes you just can't find the motivation you need. If at all possible find a friend or family member for support. You already have support just by being on this blog so if you can find a "buddy" do it by all means. Make sure you chose someone who is fully committed and cannot side track you. It must be someone with the same goals in mind. You will find there are a lot of "fakers" out there. That's not a bad word because they often have good intentions but they are some how temporary in their efforts or breaking all the rules without even knowing it. I am excited the 6' & Sexxy invited me to spin class on Saturday at our gym. I have done the body pump class before and loved it. I like to zone out when I go to the gym because I am on a mission when I'm there. It's so funny to me when I see men or women sitting perfectly still on a piece of gym equipment & have an hour long conversation then get up and leave. How have they supported one another? Do they leave and then tell someone they were at the gym for an hour? Yeah you were there that's about it! Then they wonder why the scale has gone up instead of down! Anyway back to the spinning. I tried spinning once years ago before I even attempted changing my eating habits. I hated it! I say that not because I couldn't breathe, not because my legs were burning, not because every few minutes the instructor said increase the resistance, I say that because of that gosh-darn seat! In spinning you don't sit for long or very often but when you do you want to feel like it's saving your life. Not on those hard narrow I'm sure were invented by men seats!!! Why did I accept the spinning class invitation you may ask? Well why not give it a try again? After all I'm in better shape even though I know it is still going to kick my butt but better yet I can purchase a gel seat to put over those skinny things they call seats to make me feel better. So with that said I will keep you posted.

  1. Lawd have mercy...I burst out laughing on the subway while reading this mornings blog...too funny. This is so true. I have a girlfriend who is 5'8" and was 200+ lbs, hired a trainer who had her running the p.g. sports and learning complex stairs, track, weights, etc. and would go order shrimp and grits from gladys & ron's immediately after the trainer left. When she told me that I invited her to the gym with me on a free week pass and she too joined. AS I ALWAYS SAY, ACCOUNTABILITY IS KEY! Don't attempt to do this alone. I even send out monthly pics of my progress to friends and family until I get to my desired weight. This way I'm held accountable to them as well. My girlfriend is now under 200 lbs as well and determined to keep it off. I invited her too to the spin class this Saturday. I attempted to take this class one afternoon, sat in the back of the class and only lasted 20 minutes...THAT FREAKIN SEAT IS THE WORST...determined not to let this beat me and to drag an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER with me I purchased a gel spin bike seat cover from Target...on sale this week for $15.92...I also have bad knees BUT, I'm determined to give it another try...I even had a couple of folks in the gym to ask me to take the class and I told them why not and one lady said "it killed me too but, after a month I got use to it and my husband takes it sometimes too"...I thought yeah, yeah, but, THAT FREAKIN SEAT!!! SO, now I have no excuse...other than I'll probably complain about my knees but, whatever, I'm doing it and I'm extending the invitation to Sexxy Tee to come out with us @ 8:30 am 6/21/09 to atten the spin class...do YOU, don't look around at what everyone else is doing - just zone out and get your work-out ON! Back in Feb 09 when I first joined the gym I would look at the person beside me and all around to see what pace/speed they were working out on and I had to STOP IT and do ME so, I zone out with my music and do ME. I'm in the gym 5 days a wk maybe they're only in the gym 2/3 times a wk and are working at a higher pace or maybe they had fast food for lunch and I don't eat fast food so, you never know someone else's story which is why you have to do YOU and not try to keep up with everyone else. I remember being on the eliptical machine and looking up at the speed Fatt2fab was on while I was on speed "2" she was on "7", I thought What the Heck! Then I told myself I'm 200 + lbs right now and she's not and doesn't have to lift the same amount of THIGHT weight as I do so, I guess she is working out on "7"...too funny! Sexxy Tee, let me know if you can join us on Saturday, I think we will have so much fun together as a TEAM. And, I'm extended this invitation out to any other bloggers who would like to join us as I have FREE PASSES. Sincerely, 6'&Sexy
